|WELCOME TO GREYHOUND PETS OF AMERICA- SPRINGFIELD, MO!|
Greyhound Pets of America-Springfield, MO is a volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing information about and promoting adoption of retired racing greyhounds. We also promote cooperation with other adoption programs nationwide to further the placement of greyhounds as pets into responsible loving homes.
Alane Shultz is the founder of the local GPA chapter and has had retired racing greyhounds as pets for 30 years. She has facilitated greyhound adoptions since 1992.
Greyhounds are clean, quiet and have no hereditary health problems. Their exercise requirements are surprisingly low - they prefer to curl up and have you pet them! Loving and loyal, your greyhound is your fast friend for life!
2016 COOKING FOR A CAUSE NETS PROFIT FOR GPAMO
The 2016 Cooking for a Cause event in Webb City saw a busy morning. A new kitchen built at the Farmers Market area had only one stove, but served for the breakfast. Thanks to Cathy Welsh for cooking the sausage and taking most of the time in the kitchen. Cleanup was also a challenge, with the Joplin volunteers washing items as usual, plus sanitizing plates and utensils in a bleach water tub. Finally, they had to mop floors (thanks to Don Carey).
Throughout all of the hurdles, the Joplin team perservered, served a delicious breakfast to an appreciative crowd, and raised $301 for GPAMO. Very special thanks go to volunteers Cathy, Amanaymi, Scott, Don, Gretchen, Chuck and Debbie!

Bark & Brewfest a great success!
The annual Bark & Brew Fest at Macadoodles in Springfield was a great success. We can't thank Macadoodles and new event manager Elysa enough for holding this event for us! Thanks also to the M....Wah Volunteers, our musicians, photographer Cara Burch, and of course the craft beer vendors! GPAMO received a profit of $1,250 from this event!
WHAT DO RETIRED GREYHOUNDS DO?
Recently adopted 10-year-old Sammy is enjoying the lap of luxury in her new forever home. "I'm not dead," she says, "I'm just resting!"
Opie is VERY friendly. He will be 8 in June, and will be free to the right home. When he's excited about going somewhere he jumps around like a kangaroo. He's quite funny. Opie loves everyone and goes to everyone for pets and hugs and love. He would make a good only dog, as he is happy not to share his people. He likes to ride in the car and is a social butterfly personality. Opie is fine with small dogs and indoor cats.
